On the afternoon of August 27th, Deputies responded to a report of a past burglary in the 200 block of SE 601 in Warrensburg. The burglary occurred the afternoon prior, and a television was stolen along with some hand tools.


 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of North East 1201 in Knob Noster on the evening of August 27th regarding a theft. The victim reported an unknown subject attempted to charge money from his bank account between July 8th and August 27th of 2024.


 

Johnson County Deputies reported an assault at the Johnson County Detention Center on the night of August 27th. Jonathan Neil Goodwin* Jr., 20, of Warrensburg, assaulted a Civilian Detention Officer by striking him with a closed fist on the left side of his face, and biting him on the upper portion of his chest. Goodwin also assaulted another CDO by head butting him on the right side of his face. There was no further information in the report.


 

On the morning of August 28th, Deputies were advised of a reckless driver travelling westbound on NE 50 Highway from PCA Road. Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the general area of 150 NW 50 Highway. The driver of the vehicle, Marco Antonio Hernandez, 33, was arrested for an active warrant out of Pettis County**. Hernandez was also issued a summons for Driving on the Highway Without a Valid License.


 

Deputies were dispatched to the 260 block of SW Business 13 Highway on the morning of August 29th to investigate a report of a suspect possibly being in possession of stolen property. Deputies met with the subject, Joseph Edward Hawn, 43, of Warrensburg. Hawn stated he possibly had the property, and was willing to return it. Deputies checked the property in question, and found it did not match the description of the stolen item. While speaking with Hawn, Deputies completed a MULES/NCIC check and found Hawn to have an active warrant for his arrest. Hawn was arrested for his Warrensburg Police Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Hawn was transported to the Johnson County Jail to be booked and released, with a $150 cash only bond.

On the evening of August 29th, Deputies were dispatched to a call of property damage in the area of SE 13 Highway and SE Y Highway in Johnson County. The reporting party stated someone had thrown a rock at her windshield while she was driving. The suspect remains unknown.


 

Deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of SW 825 in Holden on the morning of August 30th to investigate a report of theft. The reporting party, Harris Felsen, stated two propane tanks were stolen from his RV, which sits on the property. Felsen is not sure when it happened, but believes it happened between August 26th and August 30th.


 

On the morning of August 30th, Deputies responded to an address in the 200 block of SW Business 13 Highway in reference to a burglary. The victim staid their storage unit was broken into, and a tool was taken. Deputies alerted local Pawn Shops. Two suspects were identified when they attempted to sell the tools. Michael David Hall, 34, of Warrensburg, and Paige L. Hollandsworth, age unknown, of Centerview, were both arrested. Both Hollandsworth and Hall were transported to the Johnson County Jail pending formal charges.


 

On the morning of September 2nd, Deputies received a call that someone was offering to rent a home in the 800 block of SW 2 Highway using the information of a real estate office at 122 East Young Avenue, Warrensburg. The reporting party stated the person that contacted them does not own the property. After speaking with the Reporting Party, she stated she had copies of the suspect’s driver’s licenses out of the state of Indiana. Deputies responded to the address and made contact with the reporting party, who wished to file charges. She had sent the suspects $700 through Paypal Friends and Family. Deputies attempted to contact the real estate office, but at the time of the filing of the report, the office was closed due to the holiday.


 

Deputies responded to a report of domestic violence on the afternoon of September 2nd that occurred in the 1199 block of SW 180 in Holden. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the victim, who was bleeding from his head. The victim declined EMS, and stated a suspect had hit him several times in the head during an argument. The suspect has been identified, and Deputies are investigating.


 

Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of NW 400 in Centerview on the afternoon of September 2nd. Lisa Knisley stated when she arrived home, she had observed a backpack on the side of her driveway. Upon opening it, she observed a firearm and contacted law enforcement to respond. Upon arrival, Deputies collected a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun that was found in a red backpack about 40 yards up the driveway. Knisley stated the firearm did not belong to her and she did not know when it was dropped on her property. After a check of the firearm, it was found to not be entered as stolen. The firearm was taken to be placed into evidence for safekeeping.


 

On the evening of September 2nd, Deputies responded to the 800 block of SW 13 Highway in Leeton to follow up on a previous investigation. Deputies contacted a subject present who had several warrants for his arrest out of Cass County. Joseph Ewing Wagner, 47, of Belton, was arrested for FTA warrants on original charges of Violation of an Order of Protection (two counts) and a Probation Violation on an original charge of Kidnapping in the 3rd Degree. Wagner was transported to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office to be processed, pending a total bond of $2,000 cash only.


 

Deputies were dispatched to an animal bite call in the 1000 block of SE 750 Road in Windsor on the evening of September 2nd. Wayne Moore, 32, of the address, stated he was bitten by his dog. Photos of the injuries were taken, and Moore was advised to quarantine the dog for ten days.


 

On the morning of September 3rd, Deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of NW 521 Road in Warrensburg, in regards to a theft. Frankie Hall advised her black in color Canik SFX 18 round firearm had been stolen from her home. The firearm was stolen between August 14th and August 28th, but Hall had no suspect information.


 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 block of NW 50 Highway in Kingsville on the morning of September 5th. The stop was conducted on a green Toyota Avalon because it had defective license plate lights. The driver, Andrew Robert McKinney, 29, of Jefferson City, was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended and released from the scene.


 

On the morning of September 5th, Deputies were dispatched to a storage unit to the 200 block of South West Business 13 Highway in Warrensburg, for a burglary report. The reporting party, Jennifer Hollander, stated she had arrived at her storage unit to find the lock cut and items missing from inside. Among the items missing are a 26-gallon blue Cobalt air compressor ($400), an Anderson stabilizer block for a camper ($200), a rotisserie cooker ($100), a sway bar hitch ($200), and two unknown socket sets in red cases (socket sets $100, cases $50 each). The case is still being investigated.


 

Deputies observed a vehicle parked on the right of way at the intersection of NW 975 and NW M Highway in Centerview on the morning of September 6th. The vehicle was unoccupied, locked, and the rear passenger tire was blown. The vehicle was later towed at the Deputies’ request.


 

Deputies were dispatched to an address in rural Lone Jack (600 block of NW 1971) on the night of September 6th. The reporting party claimed her boyfriend took her car keys from her and pushed her. Dispatch lost contact with the reporting party, but could hear screaming in the background. Dispatch was able to get the reporting party back on the phone. She now claimed she had her keys, did not need assistance from law enforcement, a nd did not want to proceed with charges. Dispatch advised the reporting party’s speech was slurred, and were concerned she might be intoxicated. The reporting party and her boyfriend were both gone when Deputies arrived. Contact was made with the reporting party’s boyfriend by phone. He claimed s girlfriend went home and there was no physical altercation. The reporting party’s boyfriend claimed no one had been consuming alcohol. A “Be On the Look Out” message was completed and sent to Jackson County agencies as well as local agencies. A check was requested to the officers’ satisfaction on the reporting party, to be sure she was okay and not driving while intoxicated.


 

Early on the morning of September 7th, Deputies conducted a traffic stop near SE 215 Road and SE Business 13 Highway in Warrensburg. Deputies identified the driver, and determined he was intoxicated. Adam Mark Catts, 36, of Warrensburg, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.


 

Deputies initiated a traffic stop in rural Holden on the night of September 7th. During the traffic stop, the driver was found to be intoxicated. Daniel Webster, 43, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Maintain the Right Half of the Roadway.


 

On the evening of September 7th, Deputies responded to a vehicle crash at SE 591 Road and SE DD Highway in Warrensburg. On scene, Deputies made contact with two individuals, Jack Curtis Hamm, 39, and Rebecca Ann King, 32. Hamm’s driver’s license was suspended, his license plates were also suspended, and he was unable to provide proof of insurance. Hamm was arrested for Driving While Suspended, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. King had a Failure to Appear warrant on an original charge of Possession of A Controlled Substance. King was also found to be in possession of a used syringe. King was arrested for the warrant and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Prior Drug Offense).


*Goodwin is currently incarcerated at the JCDC pending two charges of felony Armed Criminal Action, two counts of felony Murder in the 1st Degree, one charge of felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and two counts of felony Murder in the 2nd Degree, as well as a charge of felony Assault in the 3rd Degree. The assault charge is listed in Casenet 23JO-CR00535-01, and the murder charges are listed in Casenet 23JO-CR00961-01. He is charged with killing 24-year-old Alexis Rietbrock and 40-year-old Kevin Totty on Nov. 9th, 2023. The alleged crime happened just outside the Warrensburg city limits. A case review for Goodwin is scheduled for September 30th, 2024.

**There are two listings for a “Marco Antonio Hernandez Hernandez” in Casenet for Pettis County. 22PT-CR00152 and 22PT-CR00982. Both have “Costs or fines paid in full” as the last entry on the docket. However, there is a listing for a “Marco Antonio Hernandez Garcia” in Callaway County. It is listed in Casenet as 24CW-CR01019, which is a DWI/Failure to Drive on the Right Half of the Roadway/Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. From the report, it is not clear if “Hernandez Garcia”, “Hernandez Hernandez”, or if “Hernandez” is the only name. In Spanish-speaking cultures, people typically have two names and two surnames. Traditionally, a person's first surname is the father's first surname (apellido paterno), while their second surname is the mother's first surname (apellido materno).
