July & August Activities In Warsaw Will Keep the Kids Entertained
We're about about a month into the summer vacation for kids. Are they bugging you yet with "There's nothing to do" or "I'm bored"? Maybe we can help take care of a few days so you can quit hearing that broken record over and over again.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will have four days of activities at the Lost Valley Fish Hatchery in Warsaw. They'll offer a free series of Discover Nature — Fishing and outdoor skills classes. The kids must be 7 or older for the sessions. What the kids will do is get hands-on training in fishing, archery, and target shooting with air rifles and shotgun.
Four sessions will include hands-on training in fishing, archery, and target shooting with air rifles and shotgun. The classes are not only a good opportunity for youths and adults to learn outdoor skills but also to try them with experts standing by. There's even some advanced skills that will be taught by lesson 4. The best part of the four different lessons is that afterwards you get to go fishing! After the lessons you'll have the knowledge to help you to be a better fisherman.
Combined with the fishing lessons will be shooting sports skills. Participants will be taught safety, proper handling of bows and guns, and accurate shooting skills of archery, crossbow, air rifle, and shotgun components.
All classes will include the following from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the following dates:
- Saturday, July 17, fishing and archery.
- Saturday, July 24, fishing and crossbow.
- Saturday, Aug. 7, fishing and air rifle.
- Saturday, Aug. 14, fishing and shotgun.
Registration is required for the free classes. To register, visit the MDC Events page. For more information or help with registering, call Kara Entrop at 660-438-4465 or Mark Miller at 660-530-5500. COVID-19 precautions will be observed during the sessions.
