25-year-old Jason Lewis Kroenke, who was taken into custody by Benton County Deputies Tuesday morning at 6 a.m., for a 24-hour investigative hold, has been formally charged with 1st Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action in the shooting death of 27-year-old Tarah D. McIntyre.

Kroenke is being held without bond at the Benton County Jail.

According to a facebook post by Benton County Sheriff Eric Knox, “It is through the efforts of our newly formed detectives division of your Benton County Sheriff's Office that yielded today's results.

“Detective John Snyder and investigator Don Wagenknecht have over 50 years of combined experience and training. Benton County has needed a full time detective for years but due to staffing issues and budget constraints, was an impossibility.

“A full time detective can focus his complete attention on a particular case without being interrupted by other calls for service. Snyder has been with Benton County for a number of years and was recently promoted to his new position.

“Wagenknecht has over two decades with the Minneapolis Police Department and is a POST certified deputy sheriff, who donates his time for the betterment of this great county.

“These individuals along with the professional deputies who initiated and helped work the investigation, were instrumental in the pursuit of justice in a tragic, loss of life.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tarah's friends and family. When a life is taken from our community, we all feel the loss.”

On Tuesday morning at approximately 4:16 a.m., Benton County Central Dispatch received a call from an address in the Bent Tree Harbor subdivision in Warsaw reporting an accidental shooting, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived on scene and began life-saving measures on Tarah D. McIntyre, 27, of the residence but were unable to revive her.

Kroenke, 25, of the same residence, located west of Warsaw off Route Z, was taken into custody on a 24-hour investigative hold while further investigation was being conducted.
