A La Monte pedestrian was injured after being struck by a car early Saturday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Thad M. Mesek of La Monte was the driver of a southbound 2003 Chevrolet on Missouri 127 at Front Street at 1:15 a.m. Dec. 21 when the Chevy struck a pedestrian, identified as 33-year-old Lewis R. Neal of La Monte, who was in the roadway.

The Chevy then traveled off the roadway and hit a culvert.

Neal was transported by PCAD to Western Missouri Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Mesek was arrested at 1:47 a.m. for DWI resulting in serious physical injury, and no valid driver's license. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

Pettis County deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
