The Lady Roadrunners (13-16, 4-6 in Region 16, 4-6 in the MCCAC) relied on their sophomores to erase a two-point third quarter deficit against the Mineral Area College Cardinals at the homecoming and sophomore night contest. SFCC won 62-54.

The game finished the Region 16 and MCCAC schedule for both teams.

SFCC shot the ball well from all over the floor and led 24-12 at the end of the first quarter. At half, SFCC led 35-26. However, the Lady Cardinals dominated the third quarter action to set up a fourth quarter rally.

"Grace gave us some very big minutes in the first half," said head coach Kevin Bucher. "She is starting to come around inside. Maya stepped up in the last seven or eight minutes of the game and that is what we want our sophomores to do. It was her game and she took over. We did a good job of rebounding the basketball and defending their three-point shot. That third quarter was a struggle, but I was pleased with the way that our team came out in the fourth quarter and fought."

Brewer led the team in scoring with 21 points. Kaifes contributed 14, and Morrow added 11 points.

Sophomores Ren'Cia Rolling, Maya Brewer, Catie Kaifes and Grace Morrow were honored at halftime of the men's game.

On Tuesday, Feb. 27, the fifth-seeded Lady Roadrunners traveled to Park Hills for the Region 16 championship quarterfinal round game against fourth seeded Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals and won.
