Man Charged with Stealing SUV from Missouri Fire Station
Authorities say a man has rammed a fire department sport utility vehicle through a closed garage door while stealing it from an eastern Missouri station.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 20-year-old Tristan McCoy-Bachofer, of Bolivar, was charged last week with motor vehicle tampering, burglary and property damage. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Grant Bissell says a deputy began looking for the suspect after receiving a worried call from his mother. During the search, a passerby pointed out an abandoned car. The deputy was examining the car when an Antonio firefighter ran toward the deputy and said “someone just stole our “SUV.”
The suspect was arrested after a chase ended with a crash. He told officers his car had broken down.
