
Mayoral Proclamation Recognizes Scouting Week
Sedalia Mayor Andrew Dawson was joined by members of Scouting America on Monday morning in the Council Chambers as the Mayor proclaimed Feb. 1-8 as Scouting Week in Sedalia.
A ribbon cutting was held in conjunction with the proclamation with members of the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce present, including: Chanisty Lambert, Chamber Ambassador; Katie Shannon, Chamber past president; Susan Mergen, Chamber Ambassador and HCC;
Also standing with the Mayor are: Dr. Nicholas Gray, Assistant District Commissioner; Dr. Cynthia Ann Gray, Assistant District Commissioner and District Religious Emblements Corral; Carolyn Crooker, Chamber Board member; Cliff McBride, Osage Trails District Commissioner; Maddison King, Osage Trails District Executive; Charlotte Scholl, Unit Commissioner; Greg Eby, Executive Board member & VP Business; Sonny Broyles, Board member; and Greg Baker, Osage Trails Development Director for Scouting America; and Todd Fraley, District 200 Superintendent of Schools, Chamber Board member.
Osage Trails covers 20 units (troops and packs) in Chariton, Saline, Pettis and Benton counties.

King explained that Boys Scouts of America (BSA) has officially changed its name to Scouting America to have inclusion, she said.
“The programs are the same, the mission is the same, which helps our youth build character,” King told KSIS. Scouting America is open to those in Kindergarten through the age of 18, male or female.
King added that there are other programs available, such as Adventurers and Explorers, that are designed for those areas 14 -20.
