A 4-year-old boy has died of injuries sustained in a house fire in southwestern Missouri's Springfield.

Springfield Fire Department spokeswoman Cara Erwin tells the Springfield News-Leader that the boy died shortly before 2 a.m. Friday. His name was not immediately released.

Authorities say the boy was pulled by a neighbor from the burning home about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Erwin says the child's father managed to escape with his 1-year-old son. They were treated at a hospital.

The 4-year-old's funeral arrangements are pending.
