A 27-year-old Nashville man drowned while swimming on the Meremac River Saturday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Adam N. Meinecke was swimming off the bluff when he submerged and failed to surface. 911 was called by others in his party.

A search for his body continued through Sunday, and was recovered by the MSHP Dive team. Meinecke was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner D. Dake at 2:12 p.m. Sunday.

The incident occurred in Crawford County, three miles up stream from the confluence of the Huzzah Rover.
