On Friday, Pettis County deputies responded to the 100 block of Olive Street in La Monte on a physical disturbance involving a victim being choked.

The suspect fled the area prior to officers' arrival. A search was conducted, but the suspect was not located and charges were submitted to the prosecuting attorney.

Then on Sunday, at 3:45 a.m., deputies were once again dispatched to the residence on a disturbance, but this time the suspect was in possession of a machete and threatening to harm any officers responding to the scene.

Upon arrival, the suspect, later identified as Howard Martin, III, refused to follow commands to exit the residence, so deputies entered the home and located Martin, who was hiding in a bath tub. He was taken into custody, but resisted arrest while being escorted to a patrol vehicle.

Charges of unlawful use of a weapon (Class E felony), resisting arrest (Class E felony), 4th degree assault (Class A misdemeanor), and 3rd degree domestic assault (Class E felony) were filed against Martin. He remained in the Pettis County Jail with no bond.
