The following article is from a news release from the Pettis County Health Center.

Pettis County Health Center has received a report of the death of an elderly Pettis County resident. The individual lived at home and was hospitalized outside of the county. We extend our sympathy to the family. Pettis County now has 68 cases of COVID-19 in Pettis County residents. This number is from the first case in March through Sunday, May 10. As most cases have been confirmed in the past 2 weeks, there are 48 individuals who are still isolation. Twenty individuals have been
released from isolation and returned to normal activity. There is one individual who remains hospitalized in critical condition.
As more activities continue to open up in the county, we can not emphasize enough the
importance of social distancing by staying 6 feet away from each other and following other guidelines for protecting the health of our fellow county residents and those who work in our county.  We ask everyone to continue social distancing, to stay home, wash their hands frequently and use hand sanitizer, avoid crowds and check on your neighbors. Wearing a mask in public is strongly recommended by the CDC and the health care providers in Pettis County. If you are ill with symptoms of a fever, cough, trouble breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of smell or taste, please call your health care provider.
