Pettis County Joint Communications Awarded $265,435 Grant
The Pettis County Commission on Thursday announced that the Pettis County Joint Communications was awarded $265,435.73 for call-taking hardware and software.
This is a Department of Public Safety, Fiscal Year 19 NG911 Grant Program. With the recommendation from the 911 Advisory Board and approval from the Commission, the grant was completed and submitted in late June.
The grant is a 60/40 grant, with a local match of $106,174.30.
The grant will pay for the much needed update of the 911-taking software and hardware, which will provide a good platform from the new 911 center, according to the Commission, comprised of Presiding Commissioner David Dick, Western Commissioner Jim Marcum and Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza.
The 911 Grant Program provides grant funding to support state and local efforts to deliver optimal 911 services.
The funding may be used for the implementation and operation of 911 services, E911 services, migration to an IP-enabled emergency network, and adoption and operation of Next Generation 911 services and applications.
On Aug. 9, 2019, the U.S. Departments of Transportation and Commerce announced more than $109 million in grants to 34 states and two tribal nations.
The 911 Grant Program requires cost sharing, also known as a matching funds requirement.
The federal share of the total cost of any activity carried out under the Grant Program may not exceed 60 percent of the eligible cost of carrying out grant activities.
