Pettis County Sheriff’s Reports for December 15, 2020
This is a compilation of reports released by the Pettis County Sheriff's Office:
On Sunday around 3:30 a.m., Pettis County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of Meadowood Drive. The driver, Gabriella Pascual was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. During the stop, the rear passenger, identified as Kayla L. Leach, took off running from the vehicle. She reportedly dropped several items on the ground as she ran. Deputies submitted charges of resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
An autopsy was conducted on a Pettis County Jail inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell Dec. 7. Preliminary results of the autopsy, conducted at the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office in Columbia, discovered that James Smith, Jr., died from aterioscolerosis, thrombosis and aging myocardial infarction. Smith also had a large blood clot in one of his coronary arteries. A final pathology report is expected to take 16 to 20 weeks to become available. The report emphasized that the death happened due to natural causes, according to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office.
On Sunday, Pettis County Deputies conducted a traffic stop at 6th and Center in Sedalia on a vehicle with expired tags. A computer check revealed that Kalli M. Krumroy had no driving status. Krumroy was released with a court summons.
On Sunday, Pettis County Deputies took a report of stealing in the 3800 block of Southgate Circle.
On Dec. 10, Pettis County Deputies took a theft report from Samantha Dobnikar, who said that her four-wheeler was stolen while it was parked in the 12000 block of Field Road.
On Dec. 9 at 12:25 p.m., Pettis County Deputies served an arrest warrant in the 300 block of Parker Street in La Monte. The subject was taken into custody without incident.
On Dec. 8, Pettis County Deputies took a harassment report in te 100 block of Villa Drive.
On Dec. 8, Pettis County Deputies conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 50 near East Prairie Grove Road in the La Monte area, on a vehicle failing to maintain its lane. The driver, Samuel Gonzales Barajas of Knob Noster, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was charged with DWI and no valid driver's license.
On Dec. 8, Petis County Deputies conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 65 near Elm Hills Blvd., on a vehicle failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. The driver, Shad Rehms of Kasnsas City, was arrested for driving while revoked. Rehms was also wanted on a Johnson County warrant.
On Dec. 7, Pettis County Deputies conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 50 near Thompson Blvd., in Sedalia on a vehicle with expired registration. During the stop, officers noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a subsequent search revealed a green leafy substance that is consistent with marijuana. The driver, Meagan Hopkins of Sedalia, was issued a summons for failure to register a motor vehicle with the DOR, and possession of marijuana.
On Dec. 7 at 5:51 p.m., Pettis County Deputies responded to 30650 Ball Road. Lot 311, on a report of a subject refusing to leave the residence. The caller said his stepson was inside his residence, and refused to leave. Contact was made with the stepson, and he was subsequently taken into custody for trespassing.
On Dec. 6, Pettis County Deputies took a report of property damage that occurred in the 5600 block of South Limit.
On Dec. 5 at 6:28 p.m., Delmar L. Fisher of La Monte reported a theft to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office.
On Nov. 23 at 12:45 a.m., Pettis County Deputies responded to 1405 Elm Hills Blvd., on a disturbance. The caller said he could hear two people fighting and screaming, along with hearing things break inside the trailer. An investigation led to the arrest of Jillian K. Walker. She was placed into custody on a 24-hour hold, pending the filing of state charges of 3rd degree domestic assault and resisting arrest.
