Tuesday night, Pettis County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of West 18th Street and South Prospect Avenue because it had expired registration. The driver and the passenger were identified during the stop. A probable cause search was conducted due to the fact of a positive alert from a K9 used during the stop. The passenger was found to have a controlled substance inside her purse that was in the vehicle at the time of the stop. The passenger also had had an active warrant for their arrest out of Pettis County for Possession of a Controlled Substance. The passenger, Chelsea Jolynn Klein, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested on her warrant and new felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.


 

Wednesday afternoon, Deputies took a report of theft from the 28000 block of Carpenter Road in Smithton. A four-wheeler had been stolen between the morning of November 30th and the afternoon of December 1st, 2022. The investigation continues.


 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Vermont Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard on a vehicle with a defective brake light early Thursday morning. A check through Pettis County Joint Communications showed the passenger of the vehicle had two active warrants for his arrest. John W. Bryant, 50, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for his two Failure to Appear warrants. One was from Sedalia on a Nuisance Violation; another was from Pettis County for Driving While Suspended. Bryant was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on the warrants pending a $100 cash only bond and a $1500 cash or surety bond.

Pettis County Deputies took a report of theft Wednesday morning. Money in the amount of $750 or more was stolen from the 36000 block of Oxline Road between the morning of January 17th and the morning of January 18th. The investigation continues.


 

Thursday morning, Deputies came upon an individual slumped over the wheel of a vehicle near the intersection of Highway HH and Highway 65. A consent to search was granted by the vehicle occupant. After a brief investigation, a pipe containing a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine was found in the individual's pocket. Philip James Bekoe Larbi, 35, of O'Fallon, was arrested and booked in a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail. Larbi was booked in pending charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance. While jail personnel went through his personal effects, they found a baggie of a substance that also tested positive for Methamphetamine, leading to an additional charge of Introducing Drugs into a Jail Facility.


 

Thursday morning, Deputies took a report of theft from the 33000 block of Highway E in Green Ridge. The theft occurred between January 12th and January 13th of 2023. There was no further information in the report about what was stolen.
