Monday night, Pettis County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 14th Street and South Ohio Avenue on a vehicle that had a defective tail light. The driver gave consent to search the vehicle. Deputies located drug paraphernalia and a measurable amount of narcotics in the paraphernalia. Both itmes were located directly under the seat of a back passenger. The back passenger, Teresa Webb, 44, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest. Webb was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released pending charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance.


 

Monday morning, Deputies found an abandoned vehicle causing a traffic hazard on Route J, east of US 65 Highway. There was no information available for the registered owner to be contacted.

On the evening of March 3, Deputies took a report from the 25000 block of Highway 135 in Smithton. The complainant reported a moped was stolen earlier that day.


 

Friday morning, Deputies took a report from the 3800 block of South Grand Avenue of an abandoned vehicle. The suspect vehicle, a Pontiac G6, went off the roadway, struck a utility pole, and was then abandoned from the scene following the accident. The vehicle was subsequently towed by Don’s Truck Towing. The investigation is on going pertaining charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Property Damage.


 

Deputies conducted a vehicle check at the Cenex Gas Station, 4851 South Limit Avenue due to a suspicious vehicle sitting in the parking lot past business hours. The driver, Jeremy Grant Casteel, 46, of Sedalia, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest from DeKalb County. Casteel was arrested for his warrant on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (Hallucinogen) and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked pending a $1000 cash bond.


 

Early Friday morning, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ball Road and US 65 Highway on a vehicle with expired and invalid registration information. The driver of the vehicle, Christopher J. Ulbrich, 28, of Sedalia, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. Ulbrich was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on his Pettis County warrant for Harassment in the 1st Degree. Bond for Ulbrich was set at $3500 cash or surety.


 

Thursday night, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of US Highway 65 and Glazebrook Road on a vehicle with a defective taillight and incorrect registration. The driver of the vehicle, Scott E. Crawford, 44, of Warsaw, was found to have a revoked driving status. Crawford was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on charges of felony Driving While Revoked (Third or Subsequent Offense).


 

In the early morning hours of February 28th, Pettis County Deputies and the Pettis County K9 Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Main Street and South Lamine Avenue on a vehicle that was displaying an expired Missouri temp tag. During the stop, the K9 unit was deployed to sniff the vehicle. The K9 alerted to the vehicle, and a search was conducted. During the search, a sizeable amount of methamphetamine was uncovered. The driver of the vehicle, Melissa Elizabeth Tobin, 34, of Gainesville Florida, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License. The rear passenger in the vehicle was identified as Bear Isaac Hagston, 22, of Sedalia, and was arrested for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. The front seat passenger was identified as Tammy J. Despain, 52, of Sedalia, Despain was arrested for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Despain also had a Probation Violation filing for a felony charge of Possession of A Controlled Substance. All three were transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Friday afternoon, Deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 400 block of South Walnut Street in La Monte. The report was concerning a disturbance with a gun. When Deputies arrived on scene, they located the subject with the gun and arrested them without incident. There was no name given for the subject with the gun, nor any charges listed in the report.
