Pettis County Sheriff's Reports For May 17, 2022

On the afternoon of May 13th, Pettis County Deputies conducted a vehicle stop in the area of South Montgomery Avenue and East 13th Street on a traffic violation. Benjamin Paul Craig was found to have an active warrant for felony Non Support of a Child out of Benton County. Bond on the warrant was set at $32,000 cash only. Craig was transported to the Pettis County Jail and turned over to Jail staff.

Monday night, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee without a front license plate. During the traffic stop, Bogan Ostapenko, 25, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest. Ostapenko was found to have a Sedalia Municipal warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Speeding (20-25 MPH Over). Ostapenko was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on the warrant, which carried a bond of $194 cash only.

Pettis County Deputies took a report of theft on the morning of May 12th in the 10000 block of Route B in Pettis County. A mail box and attached post were stolen, valued at $400. There were no leads or suspects.

Last Friday evening, Deputies were dispatched to the 27000 block of Morton Road in reference to a harassment report. The victim stated that while he was at work, a family member entered his property. They had written a note and placed it on a refrigerator and placed it at the end of the victim's driveway in public view. The victim stated to Deputies that the note left by the family member had caused him emotional distress. The report has been handed over to Detectives for further investigation of harassment.

Pettis County Deputies responded to the area of the 25000 block of Highway 135 for a report of trespassing Saturday morning. Deputies located the subject, identified as Candice Wagenknecht, south on 135 by the railroad crossing. Wagenknecht was taken into custody for a no bond warrant out of Missouri Probation and Parole on original charges of felony Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop By Fleeing - Creating A Substantial Risk Of Serious Injury/Death To Any Person.
