Lincoln R-2 was placed on a two hour lockdown Tuesday due to a possible threat.

The Benton County Sheriff's Department says federal authorities contacted dispatch at approximately 10:00 a.m. about a possible pending offense against Lincoln R-2 School by one or more students.

The FBI monitors social media for key words in the same text like bomb, shoot, kill, gun and school.

The school was locked down for approximately 2 hours as the Sheriff's Office assisted Lincoln Police in contacting the identified juveniles and searching for any harmful materials.

The juveniles reportedly stated that they never intended to act on their statements and it was all a fantasy.

Authorities say at least one student will be referred to the juvenile authority and the school will take appropriate disciplinary action.

No names were released in the report.

Authorities are reminding parents to discuss with their children what is acceptable on social media and how to be responsible with social media accounts.
