The Sedalia City Council presented three service awards Monday night at the start of their regular meeting at the Municipal Building, 2nd and Osage.

William Garrigus, sanitation superintendent with the Sanitation Department, was recognized for 25 years of service to the City. Garrigus was not present Monday night.

Sedalia Police Chief Matthew Wirt was recognized for 20 years of service to the City.

Devin Lake, project manager with Public Works, was recognized for 10 years of service to the City.

The top three award winners in the City of Sedalia's annual Outdoor Lighting Contest were recognized as well, including Kevin Walker for first place, Chris Paszkiewicz for second, and Charles and Bev Gerke for third.

That was followed by four badge pinnings by the Sedalia Police Department, including Ty Barrett, Bret Twenter, Kevin Tylar and Kira Pappert. Their badges were pinned on them by close family members.

These following officers were promoted:
Joshua Howell was promoted to Commander.
Kevin Klein was promoted to Sergeant.
