Ray Cressley, 77, of Sedalia passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. He was born on March 25, 1937, a son of George Edward and Olive Marie (Stiles) Cressley.

On January 17, 1959 at Emmet Ave Baptist Church in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Mary R. Hageman.

Ray enjoyed visiting with friends and family, telling stories, and collecting coins and antiques. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War until retiring in 1975. He was a member of the VFW #2591 and the American Legion #1642.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; three children, Teresa Shirky (Gary) of Sedalia, Darrell Cressley (Becky) of Sedalia, and Melody Tyree (Paul) of Centertown, MO; one brother, Edward Cressley of Amintyville, MO; six grandchildren, Christina, Johnathan, Renee, Stephanie, Corinn, and Zackery; three step-grandchildren, Melinda, Steven, and Megan; and seven great-grandchildren, Elizabet, Madalynn, Lauren, Nathan, Bella, Lillian, and Josie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne Cressley; and one granddaughter, Melinda Shirky.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia, with Reverend Tony Chapman officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by VFW #2591.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home of Warrensburg in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
