The State Fair Community College (SFCC) Roadrunners won their third game in a row with a 1-0 victory over the Southwestern Illinois College Blue Storm on Saturday, Sept. 21 the Fred E Davis Sports Complex.

"I'm happy to get the win," said Roadrunners Head Soccer Coach Jaime Beltran. "We found a way to win on a day where things weren't really going our way.  I'm glad we got the shutout and controlled the tempo and the pace of the game. We still have some work to do on our finishing and taking advantage of possession in the final third of the field, but we will take the win."

Both teams had opportunities to score in the first half, but neither could convert. SFCC scored on a shot from sophomore midfielder Angelo Salomone of Australia with 11 minutes and 47 seconds remaining in the game. Sophomore midfielder Mani Hondroudakis of Australia was credited with the assist.

SFCC took 17 shots as a team, 11 of which were on target. Salomone led the team with four shots, three of which were on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sebastian Aguero of Sedalia picked up the shutout in goal for SFCC. He recorded two saves.
