The Sacred Heart soccer team ended their first game in the Barstow Tournament in a 2-2 tie with Maryville.

After scoring 2 goals in the first half, the Gremlins held off the Spoofhounds until the last 90 seconds of the game, when they scored the tying goal.

Senior Bruno Saucedo scored his first goal within the first 10 minutes of play with an assist from senior Ian Viscara. Maryville answered with a goal within 5 minutes. Bruno scored his second goal in the 21st minute of the first half.

Maryville attempted several shots on goal, but Gremlins senior goalkeeper Alex Karigan was a defensive star, holding the lead to 2-1 at halftime.

The second half was a defensive battle with both teams stopping several scoring attempts. The Gremlins worked hard to hold their narrow lead, but the game ended in a tie when Maryville scored in the final minute of the game.

The Gremlins faced Barstow Thursday night in Kansas City.
