Sacred Heart defeated Otterville 19-3 Friday night in the opening round of the Kaysinger Conference Softball Tournament. Emma Schouten led the team offensively, going 3 for 4 at the plate driving in 7 RBIs in the game. Zoe Martin was in the circle for the Gremlins, pitching 6 strikeouts in 3 innings for the win.

Four RBI Day For Claire Smeltzer Leads Sacred Heart Past Cole Camp

Claire Smeltzer was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Friday, driving in four on three hits to lead Sacred Heart past Cole Camp 10-4 on Friday. Smeltzer drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the second, and a in the park home run in the fifth.
In the first inning, SH got their offense started when a run scored on a Smeltzer single.

Emma Schouten was the winning pitcher for Sacred Heart. The righty went five innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out nine.

Sacred Heart totaled 12 hits on the night. Smeltzer, Keely Elwell, Schouten, and Emma Siron all managed multiple hits for SH. Smeltzer went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Sacred Heart stole 11 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Elwell led the way with three.

The Sacred Heart Softball team is now 4-3 on the season. Their next action continued Saturday in Lincoln vs. Smithton at 12 p.m. in the next round of the Kaysinger Conference Tournament.

Emma Schouten Drives In Five As Sacred Heart Wins Over Smithton

Emma Schouten was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Saturday, driving in five on three hits to lead Sacred Heart past Smithton 10-5 on Saturday. Schouten drove in runs on a solo home run in the first, a single in the second, and a 3 run home run in the sixth.Sacred Heart  put up six runs in the second inning. Veronica Vanegas, Emma Siron, Schouten, Keely Elwell, and Hayden Altena each drove in runs during the inning. Smithton scored three runs in the fifth inning, but Sacred Heart still managed to pull out the victory.

Zoe Martin was the winning pitcher for the Lady Gremlins. The righthander went four and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one. Schouten threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Sacred Heart SH Softball Varsity 2021 Varsity racked up 16 hits. Elwell, Siron, Schouten, and Vanegas all managed multiple hits for Sacred Heart. Elwell went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead SH in hits.

Sacred Heart Softball Takes A Tough Blow From Lincoln

Sacred Heart had trouble keeping up with Lincoln in a 10-3 loss on Saturday. The Gremlins got things moving in the first inning when Claire Smeltzer hit a sac fly and scored one run for Sacred Heart. In the bottom of the first inning, Lincoln tied things up at one. Lincoln pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.

Emma Schouten started the game for Sacred Heart. The pitcher allowed nine hits and ten runs over six innings, striking out four.

Schouten went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Sacred Heart SH Softball Varsity 2021 Varsity in hits.
