The Sacred Heart Swim Team left their mark at Winnetonka High School in Saturday’s 19-team swim meet.

Adding one more eligible swimmer to Sacred Heart’s roster proved to bring the small team up in the ranks at this large meet, the coach said.  Sacred Heart placed 10th overall with only four swimmers.

The 200 freestyle relay gained state consideration with a seventh out of 17-team placement.

Senior Kelsey Hudson, junior Arly Ponce, sophmore Kate Carney and freshman Camille Schear had a successful race in their first freestyle relay this season.

Arly Ponce had a strong finish in the 100 backstroke, placing 17th out of 56.  Sophomore Kate Carney finished in the top half of her competitors, 18th out of 38 swimmers in the 200 Individual medley, swimming four different strokes in one race. Kate also finished 16th out of 35 in the 100 butterfly.

Freshman Camille Schear, who joins Sacred Heart from Cole Camp, had two exciting first-place finishes, first out of 32 in the 500 Freestyle, and a time that earned her state qualification.

Camille also took first in the 200 IM, 1st out of 38, and state consideration in the race.   Sacred Heart's next meet is in Raytown on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
