Schilb, Sharp Sworn In at Sedalia 200 Board Meeting
Steve Schilb and Dr. Jeff Sharp were sworn-in during the Sedalia 200 school board meeting Monday night at Smith-Cotton High School.
Schilb was voted as the new member to the school board during the April 3 municipal election. He is replacing Stephanie Lefevers, who decided not to seek another term on the board.
Current Sedalia 200 Board President, Dr. Jeffrey Sharp, was reelected this year and continues to serve in that capacity.
During the regular board session, members were asked to approve several bid related to custodial supplies, air filters, and intercom systems.
According to Assistant Superindendent Steve Triplett, nine official bids were received for custodial supplies with the board deciding to spread the supplies over 8 bidders, for a combined cost of $108,944.34.
The board also received four bids for district-wide air filters. IBT in Sedalia was selected to provide the air filters, with a total bid price of $13,036.92. Triplett noted the district has approximately 800 units that undergo regular maintenance.
A bid to install a new Valcom Intercom System at Horace Mann and Sedalia Middle School, was approved for Tech Electronics. The bid was approved in the amount of $37,566. According to information in the board packet, the upgraded intercom system is part of the district's 5-year technology plan.
Board officers were also appointed Monday night. Dr. Sharp will continue to serve as President,. David Wolf will serve as vice-president, while Ken Coffelt was appointed treasurer, Scott Gardner as secretary, and Diana Nichols as MSBA Delegate for the 2018-2019 school year. Gardner was also selected as the MSBA alternate.
In other action, the board approved the CSIP Plan and curriculum objectives for math.
Towards the end of the meeting, the board discussed the topic of a proposed 15,000 sq.ft. maintenance warehouse building. The building would accommodate overflow storage district-wide. Triplett indicated that several district schools have converted classrooms for new computer labs and other educational needs, with storage space being reduced.
The proposed storage facility could also serve for vehicle maintenance and wood shop. Triplett hopes to have bid packages available by next the board meeting, which is scheduled for May 14, 2018 at Smith-Cotton High School.
