SCJH Cooks’ Work Brings In $1,000 For Community Cafe

Smith-Cotton High School senior Abby Bruce, the student director for Community Cafe, accepts a donation of $1,000 from the kitchen staff and administrators at Smith-Cotton Junior High, as well as members of the Sedalia 200 district's food service staff.

The junior high kitchen staff made Valentine's Day cookies that were purchased by junior high staff members and students; all proceeds went to the cafe, which provides an evening meal free of charge five nights a week for those in need.

Bruce said the donation is quite meaningful and shows that "even in hard times like these, we can still make sure people can get a meal."
