The Sedalia Business Women's Group is preparing for Sedalia Business Women's Week celebrated from October 21 through the 27th.

This year the Sedalia Business Women's Week will feature church on Sunday at the 1st United Methodist Church at the Celebration Center, followed by a prayer breakfast at the Best Western, Gambler's Room at 10, where the Woman of the Year, Diane Simon, will be recognized. There will also be a lunch with the Rotary on Monday, October 22nd at noon, the Past President's Dinner will be at the Ivory Grille on Tuesday, October 23, a Friendship Lunch will be held at Bandana's Barb-B-Q on Wednesday, October 24, a Membership Social at Dukes & Boots from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 25 and then the 32nd Annual Chicken Dinner on Sunday, October 28 from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Sedalia Shrine Club.

President Linda Fisher says that the group is doing well in their second year since changing from the Business Women's Group.

"It's been two or three years since the group became the Sedalia Business Women's Group," said Fisher.  "We're still apart of the Missouri Business Women and we actually still license programs from the BPW."

Fisher says that the Sedalia Business Women's Group is about 80 members strong and they like to help local charities with the funds that they raise. "We take the proceeds from our annual chicken dinner and support groups and organizations that benefit those in our community," Fisher said.

This year's service project will go towards the Buddy Pack Program.  They are looking for peanut butter donations, which you can drop off at the U.S. Bank at 3615 West Broadway or contact Julia Bowers at 827-7658.

Sedalia Business Women holds a monthly general membership dinner meeting on the First Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Best Western Inn, 3120 S. Limit, Sedalia, MO. Guests and visitors are welcomed.
