Sedalia Council Approves $65,000 Furniture Buy

The Sedalia City Council approved spending nearly $65,000 for furnishings during a special meeting held Monday night.

The spending covered furnishings for the remodeling of the Council Chambers and Conference Room, 200 South Osage, and the space being vacated by the Sedalia Police Department when they move to their new location at 222 S. Kentucky.

Grooms Office Environments of Springfield is the vendor, while Gaskin Hill Norcross of Missouri, Inc., (GHN) of Springfield is the architect for the project.

The total amount was $64,449.33. The original price of the base proposal was $55,055.17.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Council also approved a change order for a design-build project that was described by City Administrator Kelvin Shaw as a community center.

Councilwoman Meagan Page abstained from the vote.

The agreement was between the City of Sedalia and the Boys & Girls Club of West Central Missouri, Inc., John K. Kroeger Construction, LLC (Smithton) doing business as Preferred Construction, LLC.

The project will retain the services of Robert Rollings Architects, LLC, it was noted.

Also, Jeff Wimann was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Larry Foster on the Bothwell Regional Health Center Board of Trustees through June 2019. Mayor John Kehde, who was absent from Monday night's meeting, made the recommendation to Council.

Mayor Pro Tem Don Meier was in charge of Monday night's special meeting, which was followed by a work session that involved presentations from Public Works Brenda Ardrey and Sedalia Fire Chief Greg Harrell. That was followed by a closed door session.
