The 10th annual Sedalia Firefighters Memorial Ride was held Saturday with well over 100 participants taking part in the ride, which started at Liberty Park, where the memorial is, stretched across mid-Missouri and ended at Southside Pub & Grill in Sedalia, where awards were presented.

Local 103 VP and ride organizer Jeremy Pepin said he pre-registered 90 riders, but was expecting between 120 and 150.

"We got lucky on the weather, looked like it was to rain, and it actually turned out to be a beautiful day," he said just before the ride started at 11 a.m.

"We try to give out $2,000 in scholarships every year. Plus, the money also goes to help our memorial. So coming into the day, we were over the $2,000, so everything (raised) today will allow us to give more scholarships," Pepin said.

The 10th anniversary of the event was reflected in the silver logo of Local 103 on the T-shirts being sold at the event, Pepin explained. Any T-shirts left over after the event will be sold at SFD headquarters on West 16th.

The ride wound its way through Green Ridge, Cole Camp and Versailles before returning to Sedalia.
