On Saturday (March 2), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of W. 11th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers reportedly noticed the victim on the floor, bleeding from a laceration to the upper eye and complaining of chest pain due to being kicked and punched. During the investigation, it was determined the victims's step-son, had assaulted him. The suspect, 39-year old Travis Eugene Ballew, was arrested and placed on a twenty-four hold in the Pettis County Jail for 3rd Degree Domestic Assault and 2nd Degree Property Damage.


Early Saturday morning (March 2), Sedalia Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart for a report of shoplifting. Officers made contact with the suspect, 33-year old Donny L. Merriman, who reportedly failed to pay for some merchandise and attempted to leave the store. During a search of Merriman, drug paraphernalia was found. Merriman was placed on a twenty-four hold in the Pettis County Jail, pending charges of Stealing and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.


On Friday (March 1), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the area of N. Washington Ave and E. Morgan for a report of a subject under the influence of a narcotic. The caller stated that the subject was running around with no shoes and no shirt on. Contact was eventually made with the subject, 34-year old Preston Jerrell Poindexter. According to a police report, Poindexter was found to have a felony warrant from Lafayette County. He was arrested and taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center, where he was cleared for confinement, and then to the Pettis County Jail, with a bond of $7,500.00.
