Sedalia Police Reports For December 27, 2021

Sunday night, Officers responded to the Phillips 66, 216 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a suspicious subject. Upon arrival, the suspect appeared to be intoxicated. The suspect reportedly stole a bottle of water and a lighter from the store. Officers spoke with an employee, who agreed to press charges on the suspect for stealing from the gas station. Carl Lewis Hayes, 30, Homeless, was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for a fit for confinement check. Hayes was then transported to the Pettis County Jail for a 12-hour hold and a book and release for misdemeanor Stealing charges.

Early Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of East Main Street and South Washington Avenue in reference to an accident. Upon arrival, Officers discovered a vehicle crashed into a utility pole. The driver and the passenger were both without injury. Caitlyn P. Bedell, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and No Proof of Insurance.

A subject came into the Police Station lobby to self surrender on a Failure to Appear Pettis County warrant on original charges of Non-Support. David Allen Dean Lindsey, 32, of Green Ridge, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail with a cash-only bond of $500.

Early Monday morning, Officers responded to the 2600 block of South Quincy Avenue for a call of a self inflicted gunshot wound. When Officers arrived on scene, they located a male subject unharmed. The male subject was later transported to the BRHC for further evaluation.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of South Grand Avenue in reference to a disturbance Sunday afternoon. Officers arrived and made contact with all parties. Donald Ramirez reported that his juvenile son had kicked and punched a wall, causing significant damage inside his bedroom. Ramirez wished to assist in prosecution. The juvenile was released to his mother at the scene. A referral will be submitted to the Pettis County Juvenile's Office.

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Dollar General, 2500 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a disturbance. When Officers arrived, they made contact with both parties involved. After checking their names with Dispatch, Officers were informed that the female subject had two municipal Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Expired Plates and Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway While Suspended, and one misdemeanor warrant out of Pettis County for Driving While Revoked. Nadelene Meseky, 24, of Sedalia, was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County jail, where she was held pending she post bod of $149 cash for the two FTA warrants and released on her own recognizance for the Pettis County warrant.

Saturday night, Officers conducted an investigative stop in the area of West 17th Street and South Vermont Avenue for driving while suspended. The driver ran from the stop on foot. Charges will be sought for Driving While Suspended and Resisting Arrest.

Sedalia Police responded to the Phillips 66 on East 16th Street Saturday night in reference to suspicious activity. Upon arrival, Officers met with the caller and witnesses that saw a gray Dodge truck with a camper shell on the bed peel out in the parking lot and then the alley behind the gas station heading south. Damage to a vehicle in the parking lot was reported. There are currently no suspects.

On the afternoon of December 21st, Officers responded to Smoker Friendly, 1700 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft. A subject was reported to have stolen approximately $185 worth of tobacco products from the store. The suspect was identified and charges were requested for Stealing. The suspect is not in custody at this time.

Officers responded to the 700 block of East 13th Street Friday morning in reference to a report of property damage. Travis Paul Rousan reported that someone had damaged vehicle and the residence, possibly with an air gun. The value of the damage was estimated at approximately $1,060. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Friday afternoon, Officers took a report in the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a phone that was reportedly stolen. The value of the phone was estimated at approximately $200. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Saturday morning, Officers took a report over the phone of a stolen vehicle. Officers made contact with Richard W. Hall, who stated his unlocked 2003 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from the area of Vermont Park the previous night. The keys to the vehicle had been left in the ignition. At the time of the report, the vehicle has not been located and a suspect has not been identified. The Jeep has been entered into the database as stolen.

Sedalia Police responded to Schilby's Automotive, 3913 South Limit Avenue Friday night in response to a vehicle tampering call. Officers met with Joeseph S. Carr to view the tampered vehicles. Inspection of the vehicles showed two Ford F250's, one with busted in door locks and both with drilled out ignitions. There are no suspects at this time.

Officers observed a truck leave the Cork N Bottle, 3806 East Broadway Boulevard, and turn westbound onto Broadway Boulevard Friday night. Officers recognized the driver to be a revoked subject and ran a DOR check of the registered owner. The truck was stopped in the area of East 10th Street and South Monroe Avenue. Bernard Nicholas Bierschbach, 64, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Bierschbach was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he was processed and released on a municipal charge of Driving While Revoked.

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Harrison Avenue in reference to a dog bite. A stray dog came onto the caller's property and attacked the caller's dog. The caller was able to separate the dogs, however in the process was bitten as well. The caller will seek her own medical treatment and the dog was transported to the Animal Shelter.

On the evening of December 20th, Officers observed a vehicle travelling 56 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified. A computer check of the driver showed an active warrant out of Cooper County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Receiving Stolen Property. Tyler B. Moehle, 21, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on the warrant and given a cash only bond of $380.

Sedalia Police were called to the 800 block of North Moniteau Avenue in reference to property damage Friday morning. Vicki Gravitt reported the front windshield of her 2003 Nissan Xterra had been broken that morning while parked in her driveway. The value of the windshield was estimated at $175.

On the afternoon of December 21st, Officers spoke with a subject over the phone in reference to a possible identity theft that occurred in the Sedalia area. Valeria Peinado's identity was reportedly being used for employment purposes and for utility bills, of which approximately $249.30 was owed. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Last Thursday night, Officers were dispatched to the Wendy's restaurant, 1301 South Limit Avenue, in reference to someone reporting a bomb possibly being in the building. The building was evacuated and a detailed search was conducted, but no explosive devices were located.

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of West 5th Street for a report of property damage. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Randy W. Martin. Martin stated that overnight, someone damaged the rear driver's side bumper of his 2018 Ford Fusion. Martin stated he was not sure where it had occurred, because he had made several stops while shopping the previous night. Martin estimated the value of the damage to be $2,500. There are no suspects at this time.

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Osage Avenue for a 911 call. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with a victim who reported an individual came to their house intoxicated and caused a disturbance with a domestic victim. Officers located the suspect on scene, hiding behind a car, watching Officers talk with the victim. The suspect was ordered to stop but fled on foot. The suspect has been identified at this time.

On the evening of December 22nd, Officers were dispatched to the Starbucks store, 3040 West Broadway Boulevard, for a reported property damage incident. Dena M. Matthews reported a glass door was shattered. The suspect is unknown at this time.

Sedalia Police observed a truck driving at a high rate of speed that was failing to maintain a lane on Broadway Boulevard last Sunday morning (12/19/21). Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on East Broadway Boulevard near South Summit Avenue. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Mark S. Conley, 47, of Otterville, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released. A request for the charge of Driving While Suspended (Persistent Offender) has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Last Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Scott Joplin Court in reference to a domestic disturbance. A homeless subject was taken into protective custody for safekeeping. Bryce A. Gullett, 36, Homeless, was transported to the Pettis County Jail for a 12 hour protective custody hold.

An Officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a domestic assault last Wednesday afternoon. Rebecca Lujan reported her 15 year old daughter assaulted her and her other daughter. A juvenile referral was made to the Pettis County Juvenile Office for domestic assault.

Last Thursday afternoon, an Officer responded to the Dollar General, 619 North Ohio for theft report. Amy Franklin said her wallet and items inside had been stolen while in the store. Franklin wished to pursue charges.

On the night of December 19th, Officers observed a vehicle on South Ohio Avenue with no tail lights. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near West 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The suspect was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Thomas J. Sprinkle, 35, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released. A request for the charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender) has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police observed a vehicle driving with no tail lights last Thursday morning. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near West 3rd Street and South Kentucky Avenue. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The suspect was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Jane K. Newkirk, 23, of Phoenix Arizona, was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for Driving While Intoxicated and released to a sober driver.

Last Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the lobby to speak with a subject about an incident. Officers met with the caller, who stated that sometime around 4:30 a.m. that morning, his security caught a truck driving by and possibly shooting something in the 300 block of West 20th Street.

Last Thursday afternoon, an Officer responded to the State Fair Spirits, 1419 South Limit Avenue, for a theft report. Contact was made with the store head, who said the parsimonious suspect walked out of the store with an alcohol bottle without paying for it. The business wished to pursue charges.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to a home in the 1100 block of South Park Avenue to make contact with a juvenile who was possibly the victim of abuse on the afternoon of December 23rd. Further investigation will likely need to be done to determine whether a crime has been committed or not.

Officers were dispatched to Yes Finance, 1716 West 9th Street, in reference to a found counterfeit bill last Thursday afternoon. Upon arrival, Officers met with an employee who found a fake $100 bill laying behind the business. The fake bill was gathered and placed into evidence.

Last Thursday morning, Officers received information that a wanted individual was in the AFC Urgent Care, 115 West Broadway Boulevard. The suspect was found exiting the business and Dispatch confirmed he had a Pettis County warrant for felony Failure to Appear on original charges of Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Niko William Wooldridge, 51, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was held pending a bond of $7,500 cash or surety.

Last Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 1600 block of East 16th Street for a report of a disturbance. No primary aggressor could be determined. A 12 hour log was completed.

On the evening of December 9th, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 400 block of North Mill Street. The wanted subject was located inside the residence and she was arrested on warrants for Failure to Appear on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Jordan Danielle Rhodes, 33, of Smithton, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with no bond.

On the afternoon of December 10th, while doing a follow up on another investigation, a subject was found to be in possession of marijuana. The subject did not have legal authority to possess it. The controlled substance was seized for destruction.
