Sedalia Police Reports For January 10, 2022

Sunday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Lafayette Avenue in reference to a subject who discharged a firearm in the roadway. Upon arrival, Officers spoke to witnesses, who directed Officers to a residence in the 500 block of East 12th Street. Officers made contact with Timothy M. Harmon, 55, of Sedalia. Harmon was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Officers recovered evidence of the shooting including a pistol, a spent shell casing, and a bullet fragment. Harmon was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released pending state charges. Another suspect fled the scene and has not been located. Charges of Harassment will be sought when he is found.

Officers conducted a vehicle stop for an obstructed license plate early Monday morning. The driver failed to stop, and after a short foot pursuit at low speeds, the vehicle stopped in the area of East Broadway Boulevard and South Mildred Avenue. Anthony D. Driskell, 51, of Tipton was arrested for Resisting Arrest, a Pettis County warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Prior Offender) with a $10,000 cash or surety bond, and a no bond Pettis County Probation and Parole warrant on original charges of Resisting Arrest, Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License (2nd Offence) and Failure to Drive on the Right Half of the Roadway. Driskell was transported to the Pettis County Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Sunday evening, an Officer responded to the 1300 block of South Harrison Avenue in reference to a violation of a protection order. After investigation, charges will be sent to the prosecutor for Violation of an Order of Protection for review.

Sedalia Police responded to the 700 block of West 4th Street for a report of disturbance with weapons Sunday evening. Officers contacted the two subjects, who had a domestic relationship. The subjects had an argument that turned physical. The subjects were separated for the night and a 12 hour log was started. No charges are being sought at this time.

Officers responded to the 600 block of North Engineer Avenue for a report of a disturbance Sunday evening. After arriving on scene and identifying everyone involved, Officers determined that both parties assaulted each other and no primary aggressor could be determined. Officers completed a 12 hour domestic report to document the incident.

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the 1600 block of East 16th Street in reference to a found wallet. Officers attempted to make contact with the owner of the wallet but were unsuccessful. The wallet was entered into found property.

Friday morning, Officers conducted a vehicle stop for speeding near East Broadway Boulevard and South Merriam Avenue. Through the investigation, the driver was found to have a suspended driver's license out of the state of Kansas. Colten Miner Ditton, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and later released on a municipal court summons. Later that weekend, Officers responded to the 900 block of South Moniteau Avenue Sunday afternoon in reference to a domestic disturbance. A couple got into an altercation. One of the subjects had red marks, but refused treatment. The other subject was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Colten Miner Ditton, 31, of Sedalia, was placed on a 24 hour hold pending the filing of state charges for felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East 2nd Street for a report of a found backpack. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Emma G. Pierce. Pierce stated that she discovered a black backpack with blood on it and a cell phone. There was also blood on her door handle. There was nothing inside the back pack to help identify the owner. Officers took pictures of the scene and attached them to the report. Officers took the back pack to be packaged and placed into evidence storage.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue Sunday morning in reference to a stolen cell phone. The value of the phone was estimated at approximately $150. The suspect has not been located at this time.

Sunday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Casey's store, 1601 East Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. An unknown suspect stole three propane tanks from the business.

Friday afternoon, Officers responded to the Sedalia Police Department lobby, 300 West 3rd Street, for a harassment report. On arrival, contact was made with the victim. The victim reported that a sexual video and photos of her and another subject had been sent to multiple people without her permission. At the time of the report, the suspects have not been located, and charges have not been requested.

Sedalia Police stopped a speeding vehicle near the intersection of West 16th Street and Thompson Boulevard Sunday afternoon. A computer check of the driver's information revealed that his Missouri driving privileges had been suspended. Kevin Roy DeFoe, 41, of Sedalia, was taken to the Sedalia Police Department, where he was fingerprinted and released with a municipal summons for Driving While Suspended.

Saturday afternoon, Officers took a report of a stolen vehicle in the Police Department lobby. Alma Iris Cuevas reported a vehicle stolen on approximately December 27th from the 900 block of South Vermont Avenue. The value of the vehicle was estimated at $4,000. Later that evening, Officers met with Cuevas for a property damage report. Cuevas stated that a male known to her used a baseball bat to bust out her tail light in the 2000 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The suspect is known and charges are being sought.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to speak with a subject by phone Saturday afternoon. Jerry L. Stevenson wished to report that his wallet was stolen in the area of the Dollar Tree store, 3107 West Broadway Boulevard. Officers called Stevenson and he stated that he was in the store earlier that day and after he left, he discovered that his wallet was missing. Stevenson reported that he went back to the store to look around and he did not find it. Stevenson stated that he spoke with the staff at the store, and they told him no wallet was turned in at the lost and found area. The wallet is described as brown, with his ID, debit card, and $300 cash inside. There are no suspects at this time.

Friday afternoon, Officers responded to the Rac Jac Storage, 1526 West Main Street, for a theft report. On arrival, Officers spoke with Monica Fields. Fields stated a lock was cut off her storage unit and two TV's were stolen. At the time of the report, a suspect has not been identified.

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the TJ Maxx store, 3105 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a hit and run accident. Officers were told the suspect vehicle struck a 2006 Chevy HHR in in the driver's front end, causing damage. The vehicle then left the scene. The suspect vehicle is described as a black in color Ford F150 four door pickup with no license plates. The case remains under investigation.

Sedalia Police responded to the Fortune Palace, 3005 South Limit Avenue, in reference to theft Saturday morning. On the evening of January 6th, several individuals ate at the restaurant and their payment did not go through. The person paying stated that they would return to pay but never did. The total value of the meals was estimated at approximately $86.88. The suspect has not been located at this time.

Saturday afternoon, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a primer gray Volkswagen Jetta for improper registration. Officers made contact with the suspect, and ran his information through communications. Officers were advised that the suspect's license was suspended. Paul Eugen Smith, 35, of Sedalia, was issued a UTT for Driving While Suspended and released from the scene.

Friday evening, Officers located a stolen vehicle parked in the 1100 block of South Arlington Avenue. Contact was made with a female subject, who had been observed inside the vehicle. Brittany Michelle Hall, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested for Tampering With a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. Hall was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue for a report of a disturbance early Saturday morning. When Officers arrived on the scene, the parties involved were spoken with. A 12 hour log has been completed.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the PD Lobby for a theft report. Christopher D. Crowles reported money being transferred out of his account that he didn't authorize. The incident was determined to be civil. No charges are being requested at this time.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 17th Street and South Collins Avenue Friday night. The driver of the vehicle was found to have an active warrant out of Pettis County for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bradley J. Bottcher, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the 100 block of East 4th Street for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with Jackson B. Kempton. Kempton stated that while arguing with a female, she stole his iPhone.
