Sedalia Police Reports For January 6, 2023

Early Thursday morning, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 1300 block of South Limit Avenue because it had a faulty headlight. Upon contact with the driver, it was discovered through investigation that the driver's Missouri privileges were revoked. William Scott Gudde, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of East 17th Street and South Washington Avenue early Thursday morning. The vehicle had defective license plate lights. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed the driver did not have a driver's license. Mason J. Heston, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. There, he was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for No Driver's License and released.

Officers were dispatched to the Menard's store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue, in reference to a theft no longer in progress Thursday evening. The suspect stole over $200 worth of items, and then returned them. The suspect has been identified, but no contact has been made. The case will be sent to the prosecutor for review.

Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Heck Avenue in reference to a hit and run accident. Donald Smith Jr. reported his vehicle was side-swiped while parked on the roadway.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 500 block of North Prospect Avenue in reference to a physical domestic disturbance Thursday afternoon. One of the parties involved had minor injuries. The other party, Thelma D. Spradley, 55, of Sedalia was arrested and placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Officers were contacted over the phone by Kevin Wagenknecht Thursday afternoon in regards to a theft. Wagenknecht stated that sometime between December 20th and January 4th, someone removed two space heaters from the address in the 1600 block of East 9th Street. There are no suspects at this time, and no damage was done to the residence when entry was made. The value of the heaters was estimated at $46 dollars each.

Thursday afternoon, Officers met with an individual in the lobby of the Pettis County Sheriff's Department. He stated he had found a cell phone near the Sonic restaurant, 300 West Broadway Boulevard. The cell phone was then turned over to the Officer. Officers have not been able to identify the owner of the phone at this time. The phone has been placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Police Officers were dispatched to the corner of East 10th Street and South Lamine Avenue Thursday afternoon in reference to a disturbance. Two brothers were involved in a verbal argument, and one of the brothers picked up a baseball bat. A 12 hour log was started.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 200 block of South Osage Avenue in reference to a report of a subject in the area with a warrant for their arrest. Officers made contact with the subject and checked his information with Dispatch. It was confirmed he had an active Pettis County warrant. Vicktor Radchenko, 64, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on three counts of Building Code Violations. Radchenko was transported to the Pettis County Jail and booked on the warrant, with a cash only bond of $60.

Officers responded to the Bill Greer Collision Center, 321 West Main Street Thursday morning to investigate a report of motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival, Officers met with Randall K. Harvey. Harvey stated that minutes earlier that morning, he heard his pickup truck start. When he went outside his pickup, a 1994 black GMC shortbed, was no longer there. There are no suspects at this time.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of South New York Avenue in reference to an assault. The reporting party stated a male he met on a dating application has been assaulting him and stealing from him for the past two weeks.

Wednesday afternoon, Officers conducted a subject check at the Casey's store, 1601 East Broadway Boulevard on a subject believed to have active warrants for their arrest. The subject was identified, and the warrants were confirmed. Ezra Scott Cowan, 23, Homeless, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Assault in the 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Property Damage in the 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Total bond on those warrants was set at $500 cash only. Cowan also had an active warrant on charges of felony Tampering With a Motor Vehicle, which carried no bond. Cowan was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Police were dispatched to the Main Street Apartments in the 2400 block of West Main Street Wednesday afternoon. The call was in reference to a 911 call with screaming in the background. When Officers arrived, one of the subjects involved was uncooperative and found to be in violation of a protection order. Tramond D. Taylor, 35, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Violation of a Protection Order. Taylor was placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges.
