Early Wednesday morning, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 1900 block of South Park Avenue. Officers made contact with the subject, and checked his information with Dispatch. It was confirmed he had an active warrant for his arrest. Th warrant stemmed from an incident in July of 2023. In that original report, Officer had stopped a Tan GMC Yukon because it had no front license plate and was crossing the lane divider while negotiating curves in the road. Officers made contact with the driver, and detected the odor of intoxicants coming from his vehicle. While speaking with the suspect, Officers asked him how much he had to drink. The driver stated they had a beer and two Dr. McGillicuddy shots. The driver performed poorly on the sobriety tests, and provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be at .159. As the driver was placed under arrest, Officers noticed a plastic bag in the center console. The bag contained a white powdery substance. The suspect was transported to the Sedalia Police Department to be observed, but the suspect spit something he had picked from his teeth during the observation period, so it was started again. At the Pettis County Jail, the suspect stated the plastic bag was his and contained cocaine. The substance was tested positively for cocaine, weighing at 1.74 grams. On March 22 of 2024, a warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest. Joshua Alan Couch, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrant on original charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving While Intoxicated. Bond was set at $7500 cash or surety.
