The Missouri School Public Relations Association gives its members the opportunity to have their work evaluated by PR professionals and measured against industry standards.

In the 2024 MOSPRA Communications Awards Program, Sedalia School District 200 was recognized with an Award of Excellence in the Photo category for an image of Smith-Cotton High School wrestler Keaton Belsha registering a record pinfall.

Sedalia 200 also received Awards of Merit for two writing entries (“S-C senior’s artwork to be displayed at state capital” and “S-C grad joins President Biden for 9/11 ceremony”) and a second photo entry (from New Orleans Saints kicker Blake Grupe’s visit at Horace Mann Elementary), and an Award of Commendation for the district’s electronic newsletter (SSD200 Update).

Each submission in the program was judged by two professionals in the field of education public relations. One of the category judges of the Photo entry wrote: “I can see the pride in this wrestler's face as he earns the milestone victory. … This is a surprisingly clean shot for what was probably a busy, noisy room of activity.”

In the photos: Smith-Cotton High School senior wrestler Keaton Belsha (175 pounds) set the school record for most consecutive wins by pinfall during the Tigers’ Senior Night meet on Jan. 11, 2024. This image is the moment he recorded his 18th straight pinfall win.
