Denise Bryant Named Central Bank of Sedalia’s Unsung Hero for August
Our Central Bank of Sedalia’s Unsung Hero for the month of August is Denise Bryant.
Bryant is the owner of The Glam Shack. She was nominated by Karly Jo McAllister.
Here’s what McAllister had to say about Bryant:
“Denise Bryant, owner of the Glam Shack, is a shining example of community leadership and generosity. She consistently supports local families in need, providing assistance that makes a real difference in their lives. Beyond her direct outreach, Denise uplifts other small businesses, fostering collaboration and growth within the community. Her dedication extends to organizations like the local animal shelter and Community Santa, where she hosts impactful fundraisers to support their missions. Denise’s unwavering commitment to giving back makes her an invaluable asset to our town.”
“Oh my goodness, that is so very sweet,” Bryant exclaimed when she found out who nominated her. “Karly is a pretty special girl. She helps me at my shop. I’ve known her for quite some time … she’s a great gal – super sweet and super kind.”

Brant said she was simply doing her best to give back to her community. “I do all that I can to make a difference in this world.”
Bryant calls herself a transplant who has lived in Sedalia for the past 18 years, arriving with her husband who was transferred to the State Fair City through his job.
“There’s a lot of transplants in Sedalia,” she noted.” So I feel like we all have a commonality in that. I feel like it starts here in our community so if we’re not doing things to make a difference here, then you’re missing the mark.”
Bryant also noted that “there’s just a lot of other small opportunities out there that could be recognized and we could be helping to support.”
Bryant has been in business for seven years and just recently moved The Glam Shack to the Thompson Hills Shopping Center.
She admitted that she never finished college and has been flying by the seat of her pants.
“I’ve just been driven to do better and be better. Lots of reading and figuring it out … I’m kind of just driven to succeed, I guess,” Bryant told the interviewer.
“I actually have not ever had a paycheck while being in business. I’ve literally just pour everything back into it, just to figure it out, just to keep going. I feel pretty proud of myself, just because I don’t have anybody supporting me, I don’t have like a corporation or anything like that. It’s just my husband and I,” Bryant said. “I am super grateful for him and my family.”
She added that she started talking to her future husband when she was 14 years old. She has now been married to him for 32 years. They have two daughters.
