Sedalian Causes Concern Among Deputies, Troopers
On Thursday at 8:11 a.m., Pettis County Deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers responded to Trickum Road, one half mile west of US 65 on a suspicious vehicle check.
Upon arrival, they found a subject inside the vehicle possibly armed with a shotgun, as well as an improvised explosive device.
Responding officers created distance from the suspect vehicle and closed off Trickum Road to traffic. Deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect remotely by a PA system, but were unsuccessful.
Additional Troopers responded to the area with a robot that allows for remote communication with barricaded subjects.
Prior to that, additional information was developed which indicated that the device in the vehicle was not a bomb.
Acting upon that info, deputies and troopers approached the vehicle and removed the suspect, later identified as David C. Fizer of Sedalia. A search of Fizer revealed illegal drug items.
Fizer was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges by the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office.
All officers departed the scene by 1:55 p.m.
