In their opening game of the Barstow Tournament, the Sacred Heart Gremlins soccer team bested Pembroke Hill's junior varsity team 9-1.

The scoring frenzy started with two goals by junior George Bain within the first ten minutes of play. Freshman Gabriel Malacara scored with 19 minutes remaining in the first half. The score was 3-0 at half-time.

Sophomore Joshua Pacheco scored on an assist from Gabriel Malacara to start off the second half. George Bain scored his third goal with 33:34 remaining. The Raiders scored with 13:50 remaining making the score 5-1.

Freshman Gabriel Malacara and junior Jackson Manning each scored twice in the final 9 minutes. Malacara scored followed by Manning with an assist from freshman Yovanny Cardenas. Malacara scored again with an assist from sophomore Joshua Pacheco and Manning scored the final goal with 0:45 seconds remaining. Final score 9-1.

Sacred Heart faces tournament host Barstow at 5:45 p.m., on Thursday.
