Shirley Jeane Horton, 92, Springfield, MO, formerly of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully at Ravenwood Assisted Living, February 6, 2016.

She was born July 4, 1923 to Ruth and Karl Wimer, LaMonte, MO. Shirley graduated from LaMonte High, completed a two year program at William Woods University, and obtained degrees in Business and Legal Stenography at Central Missouri State University (UCM), Warrensburg, MO.

Shirley married Earl Horton and they raised her three girls in Sedalia, MO. In their retirement she and Earl enjoyed traveling, ‘Van Clan’ trips, watching the KC Chiefs, KC Royals, and the MU Tigers. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. They were active members at the Sedalia Country Club and Shirley served as a docent for the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art. She enjoyed her residence at Winchester Meadows prior to moving to Springfield.

Her daughters are grateful for the love and care she received from the staff at Ravenwood Assisted Living and Intrepid Hospice.

Shirley was preceded in death by Earl Horton. Survivors include, daughters and son-in-laws, Terry (Don) Meyer, Springfield, MO, Kathy (Joe) Fox, West Plains, MO, Becky (Glen) Petteway, Fordland, MO; stepson Larry (Sue) Horton, Tijeras, NM; grandsons, Adam Fox, Nixa, MO, Jeff (Brook) Meyer, Columbia, MO, Casey Fox, West Plains, MO, Drew (Ann) Petteway, N. Huntingdon, PA, Austin (Christine) Petteway, Belleville, IL; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 1 pm- 2 pm at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with graveside services to follow at 2:30 pm at the LaMonte Cemetery, LaMonte, MO.
