SHS Students Awarded Scholarships
Graduation weekend for the Sacred Heart School Class of 2022 included a Senior Luncheon at the Sedalia Country Club for graduates and their parents.
During the program, Ian Viscarra (attending State Fair Community College), Kiley Beykirch (attending Texas Christian University), and Claire Smeltzer (attending Truman State University) each received $2,000 from the McCarthy Toyota Scholarship. The McCarthy Toyota Scholarship was established in 2015 to recognize and financially support deserving SHS graduates.
Allie Finney (attending State Fair Community College) and Bruno Saucedo (attending William Jewell College) were each awarded $2,500 from the Jim and Barbara Cooney Scholarship. The Cooneys are both graduates and long-time supporters of Sacred Heart School.
Smeltzer also received $1,000 from the Devon Grose Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established to honor Devon Grose, a 2015 SHS graduate who passed away in 2016. Beykirch also received $500 from the Devon Grose McCarthy Toyota Scholarship. McCarthy Toyota partnered with the Grose family to establish this scholarship to honor Devon, who was one of the first SHS recipients of the McCarthy Toyota Scholarship.
The Class of 2022 was awarded $1,915,472 in total scholarships and accepted $899,122. All 13 members of the Class of 2022 announced plans to attend college. As a group, they will be taking more than 200 hours of college credit with them into college. The average GPA for the SHS Class of 2022 is 3.67 on a 4.0 scale.
