‘Silent Sky’ To Be Presented at Hayden Liberty Center March 7-9
The Hayden Liberty Center, 111 W. 5th Street, will present Silent Sky (by Lauren Gunderson with original music by Jenny Giering) March 7-9 at 7:30 p.m., and on March 9 at 2 p.m.
Silent Sky is based on the true story of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, who worked as a “computer” for Harvard College Observatory in 1900. Henrietta is played by Alex Swords. Henrietta is so focused on her work dealing with the changes in Cepheid stars, that it strains her relationships.
Trinady Klemme plays Henrietta’s sister Margaret Leavitt. Margaret is a gifted pianist, and is concerned about Henrietta’s career ambition, but she supports her and celebrates her accomplishments.
Tadley Peterson plays Peter Shaw who is in his 30s and serves as the head astronomer’s apprentice and women’s supervisor. However, he is not as passionate about astronomy as Henrietta. He eventually falls in love with Henrietta.

Dynisha Hawkins plays Annie Cannon, a woman in her 40s who works with Henrietta, and has made important scientific discoveries of her own. Annie is also a terse suffragette.
LCAA Veteran Jan Bahner plays Wilhelmina Fleming, a Scottish woman in her 50s who is smart and fun to be around.
Suzanne Peterson is the director of Silent Sky.
Tickets are $17 for adults, 415 for seniors and $12 for students.
Stop by the box office downtown from 1- 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, or go online at libertycentersedalia.com, or call (660) 827-3228.
