Smith-Cotton High School instrumental music students earned nine Exemplary (1) ratings and seven Outstanding (2) ratings at MSHSAA District Music Festival at State Fair Community College.

Students who received 1 ratings qualified to perform April 26-28 at the MSHSAA State Music Festival at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Receiving 1 ratings were seniors Valerio Toderescu-Stavila, horn; Michylah Hawkins, bassoon; Calvin Pritchard, trombone; and Hannah Pitts, clarinet; juniors Edward Toderescu-Stavila, oboe; Grace Edgar, marimba; Logan Goodwin, trumpet; and Sydny Kocsis, flute; and sophomore Ilia Afatarli, piano.

Receiving 2 ratings were seniors Madilyn Enrietto, flute; Jenna Northcutt, clarinet; and Drake Carr, tuba; juniors Edward Toderescu-Stavila, xylophone; and Gabe Decker, trumpet; and sophomore Will Hooton, alto saxophone. Also receiving a 2 was the Flute Trio of sophomore Lily Wagenknecht and freshmen Natalie Adermann and Jocelyn Dalton.

Senior Sam Elvers, alto saxophone, senior Yeager Coen, trumpet, and junior Logan Grey, clarinet, all received Satisfactory (3) ratings, as did the Saxophone Trio of Hooton and freshmen Trint Grotzinger and Tyler Soendker.
