With the arrival of fall, Smith-Cotton High School buzzes with anticipation for its show choir season. Avery Mather, advisor for the Smith-Cotton show choirs, prepares everyone for the upcoming competition season.

“The Smith-Cotton Show Choirs are off to a great start! all three groups are hard at work preparing dynamic and impactful competition shows that will debut in January. These students pour in countless hours of rehearsal, and their dedication shines through,” Mather stated.

Mather directed Smith-Cotton’s show choir preview on Thursday, Oct. 2, and it was filled with enthusiasm and excitement.  The Show Choirs that performed were Broadway Velocity, Cabaret and New Score, and all three groups rose to the occasion and excelled in their performances.

To ensure a positive and smooth sailing for this season, the Smith-Cotton show choir groups need as much assistance as possible for a successful run.

“To keep these programs thriving, we are inviting local businesses and individuals to support the Smith-Cotton Show Choirs this season. Your contributions also help make possible our signature event, the Show-Me Classic, a premier show choir competition hosted right here at Smith-Cotton. If you’d like to partner with us, please reach out to the Smith-Cotton Choral Society at scchoralsociety@gmail.com. Every gift, big or small, directly supports our students — and we are deeply grateful for the community’s encouragement and generosity,” Mather said.

With Thursday's performance, these groups continue their work through tireless dedication to give their all to ensure a successful and valuable competition season and ensure a victorious one as well.
