Smith-Cotton High School student Pedro Heredia was recognized by Principal Wade Norton at the start of the Oct. 10 meeting of the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education for receiving an Award of Excellence from the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists.

According to its website (scitechleaders.com), the academy aims. "to inspire and support all K-12 and college students who wish to devote their lives to the sciences and technology."
