The Sacred Heart Gremlins soccer team opened the Kaysinger soccer tournament Monday with a 5-0 win over tournament host Stover.

Just over 4 minutes into the game, junior George Bain scored his first goal on an assist from fellow junior Jackson Manning. Timing was perfect as Manning placed the ball right in the middle of the box and Bain drilled the ball into the net. About eighty seconds later, Bain scored again making the score 2-0.

Next was Jackson Manning's turn as he scored a goal with 27 minutes left in the first half.

The Bulldogs' best attempt at scoring came from a corner kick with 7:30 left in the first half. Senior goalie Tanner Damlo jumped up and deflected the ball over the goal to make an impressive save.

Senior Osvaldo Garcia scored with 6 minutes remaining in the first half making the score 4-0 at halftime.

The Gremlins kept the Stover goalie busy all evening making several shots on goal. Sophomore Diego DeLeon scored the only goal in the second half. Final score 5-0.

Sacred Heart faces Cole Camp Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 pm.
