The #7 seeded Gremlins started off the Kaysinger Conference Tournament on Saturday by defeating the Otterville Eagles, 16-1.

Sacred Heart collected eleven hits in the game. Keely Elwell went 3-for-3 and drove in four RBIs. Elwell also was on the mound for the Gremlins, allowing one run on three hits, striking out six.

Next, the Sacred Heart Gremlins played the #2 seed, the Windsor Greyhounds. The Gremlins defeated the Greyhounds 7-4 in eight innings. Sammy Altena blasted a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1 in the second inning.

Windsor put up two more runs in the third inning and Sacred Heart tied the game up in the fourth when Altena homered for the second time in the game. Emily McDonald came up clutch in the top of the eighth inning with a single to get the Gremlins started for their four-run inning to seal the victory.

Zoe Martin was in the circle for the Gremlins, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out 13.

The Gremlins moved on to their third game of the day. Sacred Heart suffered a 10-0 loss to the Lincoln Cardinals. The loss put the Gremlins into the third-place game for the Tournament.

The Sacred Heart Gremlins placed Fourth in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament with a 4-1 loss to the Tipton Cardinals. Zoe Martin and Peyton Martin both went 2-for-3 in the game. Z. Martin and Keely Elwell were both on the mound for the Gremlins, combining for four runs on five hits and striking out five.

The Gremlins proved that they were more than a #7 Seed in this tournament. The girls played hard and represented the school well.

The Gremlins are now 5-4 on the season.
