SPD Arrest Reports for the Evening of Oct. 1, 2018
Around 2:00 Monday morning (Oct 1), Sedalia Police stopped a man who was reportedly walking through yards in the area of the 1300 block of S. Park Ave. Investigation revealed the man, 43-year old Damon L. Lewis, was in possession of a firearm that had been reported stolen in Sedalia on September 8. The firearm's serial number had been defaced. Lewis is reportedly a convicted felon and unable to legally possess a firearm. Lewis was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia. Lewis was arrested on variety of charges and placed on a twenty-four hold in the Pettis County Jail.
On Sunday (Sept 30), Sedalia Police were in the area of E. Broadway due to a number of complaints of motorcycles speeding in the area. While in the area, officers noticed a motorcycle take off at a high rate of speed. Neighbors in the area were able to help police locate the motorcycle. The driver, 27-year old Kendal Dale Brown, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Resisting Arrest, Careless Driving and Failing to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle. Brown also had a Pettis County warrant that carried a bond of $10,000.
On Saturday (Sept 29), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Cenex gas station on E. 16th Street for a reported theft. Employees reported that earlier in the day, the suspect stole several items from the business. Later on, the suspect, 36-year old Crystal Nichole Naylor, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, pending a state charge of stealing.
On Thursday (Sept 27), Sedalia Police received information about a suspect at Dollar Tree who had an active Pettis County probation violation warrant. Police arrested 34-year old Christopher M. Brown and took him to the Pettis County Jail, with total bond of $2,000.
On Thursday morning (Sept 27), Sedalia Police observed a silver Chevrolet Silverado with expired plates. The Chevy pulled into Tiger Eagle Stop on E. Broadway, where police initiated a traffic stop. The suspect, 39-year old John P. Beaman III, reportedly exited his vehicle and concealed an item in a trash can. Beaman was detained and police recovered methamphetamine and paraphernalia from the trash can. Beaman was arrested and placed on a twenty-four hold in the Pettis County Jail. State charges of Possession of a Controlled Subtance, 1st Degree Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failing to Register a motor vehicle annually with DOR are being sought.
