Traffic Stop Results in Chase, Arrest of Versailles Man
On Saturday night, Pettis County Deputies and the K9 Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Main Street and Thompson Road in Sedalia.
During the stop, Deputies asked the driver and the passenger to step out of the vehicle so the K9 Unit could conduct a sniff of the vehicle. The passenger exited the vehicle, but the driver did not, and took off in the vehicle.
Deputies and the K9 Unit pursued the vehicle east on Main Street. At that time, the SPD attempted to stop stick the vehicle, but it went into the oncoming lane of traffic to miss the sticks.
The vehicle finally stopped just east of US 65 and Main Street.
Pettis County Deputies took Michael G. Davidson into custody pending charges of felony Resisting Arrest, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Speeding and Careless Driving.
At the time of the pursuit, Deputies were very aware of the surroundings, and made sure no Pettis County citizens were in danger during the pursuit. Deputies, the K9 Unit, and SPD Officers searched the area of the pursuit on foot to ensure nothing was thrown from the vehicle.
Nothing was located at this time.
