Nearly 50,000 people are expected to flock to Harrisonville for a few short days, as they visit The Moving Wall, a traveling Vietnam War veterans memorial.

Officials with the Harrisonville American Legion Post 42 arranged the visit, with The Wall set to be on display from Thursday, June 27, to Monday, July 1, in a lot north of Mill-Walk Mall, located at 2601 Cantrell Road. During The Wall’s visit, it will be open for public viewing at all times; until it is taken down during the early afternoon on July 1.

The exhibit features a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.

According to themovingwall.org, The Wall was first unveiled on Veterans Day 1984 in Tyler, TX, and was designed to travel to communities throughout the United States. Since its dedication, the exhibit has been displayed in nearly 600 US communities, allowing visitors to pay tribute to each one of the 58,220 soldiers who died during the war.
