According to a press release from the Pettis County Sheriff's Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol was in pursuit of the vehicle on I-70 in Lafayette County.

The suspect vehicle then traveled into Johnson County. At that time the Patrol terminated the pursuit.

Then at 1:59 a.m., Pettis County Deputies located the vehicle entering Pettis County, west of La Monte.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, which fled from Deputies.

As the pursuit entered La Monte, Deputies were able to deploy stop sticks, which flatted three of the suspect's tires. Deputies pursued the vehicle east on Highway 50 into the Sedalia city limits.

Pettis County Deputies in the meantime requested assistance from the Sedalia Police Department. Police shut down intersections on Broadway to prevent innocent motorists from being harmed.

As Deputies approached Broadway and Limit, a Sedalia Police Officer deployed stop sticks, causing the fourth tire on the suspect vehicle to deflate and run on its rims.

Pettis County Deputies continued to pursue the suspects into Morgan County, where the vehicle could no longer travel due to the wheels coming apart, according to the report.

The driver, Joshua Logan Evans Lee of Columbia, and his passenger, Jacob M. Thornton, also of Columbia, were then taken into custody.

Lee was charged with felony resisting arrest, felony driving while revoked or suspended, and possession of a controlled substance.
Thornton was charged with possession of a controlledsubstance, and tampering with evidence.

Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders thanked the Sedalia Police Department for keeping the public safe during the high-speed event.
