Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Morgan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the driver of a westbound 1999 Ford F-250 lost control on US 50, east of Old Route 50 at 7:20 a.m., due to road conditions, and caused a trailer he was hauling to swerve into oncoming traffic and an eastbound 2001 Chrysler Town & Country, driven by 38-year-old Emily M. Edwards of Columbia, struck the trailer.

Edwards suffered serious injuries, while the driver of the Ford, 34-year-old Jorge Ipina of Sedalia, suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment by PCAD.

Ipina was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, while Edwards was not, according to the report.

The Ford had minor damage, while the Chrysler was totaled. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Don's Truck Towing.
